FAQ
Lexus offers three types of electrified models: fully electric (also known as a Battery Electric Vehicle, BEV, or simply EV), plug-in hybrid (also known as a PHEV), and hybrid.
All-electric vehicles can offer drivers convenience, potential savings, and eliminate CO2 tailpipe emissions. They’re also fun to drive, courtesy of the immediate torque response from the electric motors, available DIRECT4 all-wheel drive technology, as well as the smooth acceleration and quiet cabin.
All-electric vehicles can also be conveniently charged at home, overnight and on-demand, as well as at public charging stations when out and about. No more trips to the gas station required. In addition to potential fuel savings, drivers may also be able to enjoy a state tax credit,9 as well as the routine maintenance savings typical of an all-electric powertrain.
Of course, an all-electric Lexus is designed to provide owners even more. In addition to the driver-inspired craftsmanship, attention to detail and intuitive technology that have always set Lexus apart, every electrified Lexus is supported by an expansive dealer network that’s world-renowned for its unrivaled care and unparalleled expertise.
Thanks to the use of electric motors instead of internal combustion engines, all-electric vehicles provide smooth acceleration, immediate torque response and a surprisingly quiet ride experience.
The driving range of an all-electric vehicle will vary depending on how/where you drive, charging habits, accessory use, outside temperature and other factors. Battery capacity also decreases with time and use, which will reduce range.
Gradual acceleration, flat terrain, and even pre-conditioning the temperature of your Lexus while it’s plugged in can potentially have a positive effect on driving range. However, please note that all-electric driving range may decrease significantly depending on speed, outside temperature, accessory use, how/where you drive, charging habits and other factors. Battery capacity also decreases with time and use, which will reduce range.
EV DC charging13 times will increase as the battery temperature decreases, with significant increases possible at temperatures below freezing. For example, at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, DC fast charging times can increase by approximately 1.5 to 2 times. Charging times will vary based on various factors including accessory use, battery level and condition, and charger specifications.
In order to ensure effective charging and preserve battery health over the life of the vehicle, please plan no more than three DC fast charging13 sessions per day. After three 10%–80% state of charge DC charging sessions, a threshold can be reached, which will result in DC charging speed being significantly reduced.
Over time, the battery will gradually recover. One additional high-speed DC charge can be completed after approximately 6 hours, with complete recovery occurring over the next day. During the recovery time, vehicle driving performance and Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging capability remain unchanged.
Disclaimer:
- See https://www.driveelectric.gov/stations.
- A 240V NEMA 14-50 outlet is required for Level 2 charging. Electrical outlets for use with the dual-voltage charging cable must be installed by a licensed, qualified electrician.
- Accessing the ChargePoint network through the Lexus app requires an active subscription to Remote Connect that depends on 4G network availability and other factors. Also requires account registration through the Lexus app and acceptance of Connected Services Terms of Use and Master Data Consent.
- Lexus is not involved in, nor is it responsible for, the installation of the charger. Lexus cannot guarantee the 48-hour turnaround and one-visit representations from Treehouse. Please visit Treehouse's website for more information.
- Charging time provided is an estimate and can vary depending on weather conditions and other factors.
- DC charging time will vary based on weather and other factors. DC charging times will increase as temperatures decrease, with significant increases possible at temperatures below freezing. DC Fast Charging should be limited to three sessions per day, regardless of the weather. After three 10-80% charge sessions, DC Fast Charging over the next day may take longer and be less effective. Accessory use, battery level and condition, and charger specifications also can negatively affect charging times. Use for comparison purposes only. Actual range will vary significantly depending on charging and driving conditions, including outside temperature, speed, accessory use, how/where you drive, battery condition and other factors. See www.fueleconomy.gov and Owner's Manual for details.
- For Lexus battery electric vehicles only. Access only available for V2 and V3 chargers. 2025 and earlier BEV models require adapter for use.
- Service requires an active subscription to Remote Connect that depends on the availability of the applicable cellular network and other factors. Remote Connect services vary by vehicle and are subject to change at any time without notice. Services depend on 4G network availability, a cellular connection and GPS signal. Without any one or more of these things, operability may be limited or precluded. Further, if and when 4G network changes or is discontinued, or the underlying technology required to support service becomes obsolete, then the services will not work, and will need to be discontinued. Digital Key also requires Bluetooth connectivity. Services require account registration through Lexus app and acceptance of Connected Services Terms of Use and Master Data Consent.
